A Brief History of Boldon

Boldon is one of the oldest documented settlements in Tyne and Wear, with mentions in the Boldon Book of 1183 — a Norman-era survey of the Bishopric of Durham's estates often described as the North East's answer to the Domesday Book. The modern village grew around the old church of St Nicholas, parts of which date to the 12th century.
