Flatpack Assembly in Sunderland

Wardrobes, beds, desks and garden furniture properly assembled and secured.

Flatpack furniture is brilliant value — until you open the box and discover thirty pages of pictograms, six dozen identical-looking screws and a hex key the size of a paperclip. We do flatpack for a living.

Furniture We Assemble Every Week

Wardrobes (especially the larger PAX, MALM and HEMNES sets from IKEA, which can take two people and most of a day if you have never built one), king and super-king bed frames, ottoman storage beds, sofa beds, dining tables, dining chairs, sideboards, TV cabinets, gaming chairs, height-adjustable desks, office chairs, filing cabinets, bookcases, shoe racks, kids' bunk beds and themed beds, cabin beds with stairs, midi sleepers, garden benches, gazebos and patio sets.

We have built almost everything available from IKEA, Argos, Wayfair, Habitat, Dunelm, Made and B&Q, plus countless specialist children's and gaming furniture brands. If you have lost the instructions, we can usually still work it out — but please save us the manual if you have it.

Done Right, Not Just Done

A flatpack item that has been thrown together in a hurry will work loose in months. We take a few extra minutes to do the small things that double the life of the piece: pre-drill the dowel holes where necessary, glue the dowels rather than just dry-fit them, square every carcass before driving the back panel pins, torque cam-locks properly without stripping the chipboard, and check every door, drawer and shelf for alignment before we leave.

For tall items like full-height wardrobes, we always anchor them to the wall using the supplied strap or proper toggle fixings — it is a small job that prevents a tip-over accident, especially in homes with children.

What We Charge & How Long It Takes

We quote per item rather than by the hour because it is fairer on you. A standard chest of drawers takes about an hour, a small wardrobe around two, a king-size bed frame between one and three hours depending on the design, and a full PAX wardrobe run can take a full day with two of us on site. We will give you a fixed price before we start.

If you need rubbish removed afterwards — the cardboard, plastic film and polystyrene — we can take it away for a small additional charge. Most customers prefer this to spending an evening flat-packing the packaging into a recycling bin.

Garden Buildings & Larger Assemblies

Sheds (timber and metal), summerhouses, log stores, playhouses, climbing frames, trampolines, gazebos, hot tub gazebos and pergolas — we assemble the lot. We can also pour a small base or level a patch of garden in advance if the supplier has not provided one.

Why Sunderland Customers Choose Us for Flatpack Assembly

Sunderland is full of trades and not all of them turn up. We hear that from new customers almost every week — someone has waited two days for a callback, taken a morning off work for a quote that never arrived, or been chased for cash on a job that was never finished properly. We built our reputation by doing the simple things consistently: answering the phone, turning up when we say we will, giving fixed prices in writing, doing the job to a tidy standard, and leaving the house cleaner than we found it.

We are not the cheapest in Sunderland and we do not try to be — but we believe we offer the best value when you balance price, reliability and finish quality.

The Process — What to Expect When You Book

1. Enquiry. Fill in our contact form with a brief description of the work and a few photos if you can — the more we know upfront, the more accurate our quote will be. We respond within 24 hours on working days, often much sooner.

2. Site visit and quote. For most flatpack assembly work we like to visit the property to give an accurate fixed price. The visit is free, takes 15-30 minutes and there is no obligation. For very small jobs we can quote from photographs alone.

3. Booking. Once you agree the quote we send a confirmation email and book a date. We do not take deposits for jobs under £500 — you pay on completion when you are happy with the work.

4. The work. We arrive on the agreed day in the agreed time slot. We dust-sheet floors, protect skirting and furniture, and work tidily. We keep you informed if anything changes.

5. Completion and payment. When the job is finished we walk you through it, hand over any guarantees or certificates and take payment. Card, bank transfer or cash all welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge by the hour or by the item?
Per item — we give you a fixed quote up front so there are no surprises. If you have a long list of pieces, ask about our half-day and full-day rates which work out cheaper.
Can you collect the furniture for me?
For local purchases in Sunderland we are happy to collect and deliver for a small fee, provided the item fits in a standard van. Just let us know when you book.
Do you anchor wardrobes to the wall?
Yes, always — we use the supplied bracket where one is provided, or proper rawl plugs and screws into stud or masonry where it is not. This is a non-negotiable safety step in our process.
What if a part is missing or damaged?
We will let you know immediately and either continue with the build where possible or pause it for you to contact the supplier. We do not charge extra for the second visit when this happens.
