Good painting is 80% preparation and 20% painting. We do not skip the preparation. The result lasts longer and looks better when we are gone.
Interior Painting
A typical interior room repaint covers walls, ceiling, all woodwork (skirting, architrave, door, window reveals) and a touching-in of any colour bleed. We bring proper dust sheets, mask edges with low-tack tape, fill nail holes and minor cracks with caulk, prime any bare patches and apply two top-coats of trade-quality paint.
Where there is a transition between two colours (such as a feature wall) we mask, paint, peel back while still wet and the resulting line is dead sharp. Skirtings and architraves get either gloss, satin or eggshell depending on your preference and the existing finish.
Wallpaper Hanging
Modern paste-the-wall papers, traditional paste-the-paper and heavy embossed papers all behave differently. We score and strip the old paper cleanly, repair the wall, size if needed, and hang the new paper plumb with butt joints (not overlapped). Most rooms take a day to a day and a half.

Exterior Painting
Painted soffits, fascias, render, garage doors, front doors and timber windows all need exterior-grade products applied at the right temperatures and weather. We sand, prime any bare timber with a binding primer, undercoat where needed and topcoat with weather-resistant gloss or satin. Render gets a smooth masonry paint, optionally with anti-mould additive for shaded north-facing walls.
Masonry & Render
See our [masonry painting page](masonry-painting.html) for detail. Briefly: full pressure wash, fill cracks, prime stained areas, two coats of masonry paint in your chosen colour, neat cutting-in to brickwork and roofline. Most semis come in around £900-£1,400 depending on access.

Why Sunderland Customers Choose Us for Painting & Decorating
Sunderland is full of trades and not all of them turn up. We hear that from new customers almost every week — someone has waited two days for a callback, taken a morning off work for a quote that never arrived, or been chased for cash on a job that was never finished properly. We built our reputation by doing the simple things consistently: answering the phone, turning up when we say we will, giving fixed prices in writing, doing the job to a tidy standard, and leaving the house cleaner than we found it.
We are not the cheapest in Sunderland and we do not try to be — but we believe we offer the best value when you balance price, reliability and finish quality.
The Process — What to Expect When You Book
1. Enquiry. Fill in our contact form with a brief description of the work and a few photos if you can — the more we know upfront, the more accurate our quote will be. We respond within 24 hours on working days, often much sooner.
2. Site visit and quote. For most painting & decorating work we like to visit the property to give an accurate fixed price. The visit is free, takes 15-30 minutes and there is no obligation. For very small jobs we can quote from photographs alone.
3. Booking. Once you agree the quote we send a confirmation email and book a date. We do not take deposits for jobs under £500 — you pay on completion when you are happy with the work.
4. The work. We arrive on the agreed day in the agreed time slot. We dust-sheet floors, protect skirting and furniture, and work tidily. We keep you informed if anything changes.
5. Completion and payment. When the job is finished we walk you through it, hand over any guarantees or certificates and take payment. Card, bank transfer or cash all welcome.
